In a world gone mad, Kilkee offers some good old fashioned sanity, a vibrant eclectic community, with a strong arts and music scene, some of the freshest air in western Europe, with quiet country roads and ‘boreens’ ideal for cycling, walking or running.

Affordable housing, average monthly rents are €650 pm, great crèches, schools and sports facilities, and the whole Loop Head Peninsula on your doorstep.

Kilkee is 15 minutes to the nearby market town of Kilrush, 45 minutes to the county town of Ennis, the national motorway and rail network and less than 1 hour from Shannon Airport with its international connectivity.

And if all of this sounds like too much action, the Loop Head Peninsula is host to one of the best arts scenes on the west of Ireland. Musicians of all kinds, from classical to traditional music and modern rock playing in small venues like the Culturlann Sweeney in Kilkee and The Greyhound Bar; artists in all kinds of media, from writing books to poetry, from making life-size bronze statues to ‘papier mache’ chickens, from abstract paintings to amazing photographs, all showcased in small craft shops and galleries like The Kilbaha Gallery.

Plus, most places would be happy with one lighthouse, we have two… and one is open to the public.

Stories
The Elliott Centre provided my group with a quality space for both lecturing and for working on exercises during our field course. It was very nice to have a secured space we could use at our convenience when the weather was poor, and leave our materials in when we went outside to look at rocks.
